Marian Goebes,
PhD
Technical Project Manager
Dr.
Goebes is a Technical Project Manager at the Heschong Mahone Group,
Inc. Her work includes energy efficiency program evaluation, technical
support for green home programs, research design, and tool development.
Dr. Goebes
provides technical assistance to energy efficiency and green home
programs, evaluates energy efficiency programs, and develops
user-friendly tools to simplify complex calculations. She is currently
working on several evaluation projects for the Natural Resources Defense
Council, including a re-analysis of the upstream lighting program
evaluation, a comparison of deemed saving parameters, and an
investigation into interactive effects. Other evaluation projects
include a process evaluation for the Energy Trust of Oregon’s existing
multi-family program. On the program implementation side, she is
currently managing the StopWaste Energy Upgrade California program for
multi-family retrofit projects (on behalf of BKi); she provides
technical assistance to project teams to ensure that they understand and
meet requirements for Build It Green certification recommends cost
effective strategies for achieving deeper energy savings. She also
reviews energy simulations for single-family projects through the
Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Home Performance Program.
On behalf of
Enterprise Green Communities, she has developed guidance documents for
implementing Energy Efficiency-Based Utility Allowances for affordable
projects. She has also developed research scoping studies, including a
project to identify and measure the human factor benefits from core
daylighting, on behalf of 3M.
Prior to
joining HMG, Dr. Goebes was a project manager at Jay Hall & Associates.
She provided technical support to green building programs, including the
U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes program.
Dr. Goebes earned
a Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Stanford University,
where she researched indoor air quality. She received an B.S. in Civil
Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
