STAFF PROFILE
Timothy D. Perry
Associate Manager

Tim Perry is an
associate manager at the Heschong Mahone Group, Inc. Mr. Perry
specializes in software design, spatial statistics, hydrology and
climatology.
Mr. Perry has
contributed to several on going projects. Tim identified subtle defects
in the Daylight Metrics building models which had halted progress on the
project. He helped design an OpenADR to RDS-DR software bridge which
will be shown at the California Energy Commission, Lawrence Berkeley
National Labs, and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District Offices.
Mr. Perry created a visual-basic based reporting module for HMG’s CRM
system. He also wrote the underlying logic for the California demand
response potential model in Java and SQL. Lastly he added remote
monitoring to the HMG network and is in the process of creating a
cluster of computers that can run distributed simulations.
Before joining HMG, Mr.
Perry was associated with Oregon State University. He started as a
research assistant with the PRISM group where he helped with data
analysis and software integration. Later, as a graduate student in the
Geosciences Department, he documented the hydrologic effects of forest
harvest and subsequent forest regrowth on summertime streamflow. After
graduating, Mr. Perry worked as a faculty research assistant with the
Geosciences Department. He took an existing stream chemistry data set
for the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest and created a synthetic
stream-chemistry data set with monthly resolution. This was a boon to
researchers as the original data set had variable sampling intervals
making it difficult to analyze directly.
Tim worked as a
software engineer at several firms including Alloy Inc, ComDEV
International, Siebel Systems where he gained substantial experience in
software design, database design, process automation, expert systems,
and feasibility analysis.
Mr. Perry is a member
of the American Association of Geographer. He holds a Masters in
Geosciences from Oregon State University and a Bachelors in Computer
Science from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. He
is also a Sun Certified Java Programmer.
