Program Evaluator
Job Description: The Heschong Mahone
Group Inc. (HMG) offers an entry- to mid-level career opportunity for an
experienced evaluator. We provide measurement and evaluation services for
energy efficiency programs across the United States. Our clients include
utilities, state and federal agencies, and other energy efficiency
organizations, and our evaluation practice is expanding. The position
requires a working knowledge of evaluation practices, including sampling
and survey methods, statistical analysis, gross and net impact analysis,
process evaluation, and market analysis, as well as program and policy
development.
Job Duties:

Participate on multiple
teams to implement a variety of applied research projects

Participate in the
development of research designs, data collection instruments and
procedures

Conduct and oversee a
variety of data collection tasks, including surveys, interviews, focus
groups and document review

Plan, conduct and summarize
quantitative and qualitative analyses, including database organization
and management

Write reports that include
statistical, narrative and graphic components as appropriate to the
specific project

Engage in other
project-related activities as needed

Interact regularly with
staff and clients, traveling as needed

Qualifications: The

Senior Research Project Manager
Job Description: Design and manage
research for building energy efficiency studies. Conduct statistical and
technical analysis and field surveys of building energy systems. Support
development of energy policies, codes and standards. Evaluate utility
energy problems. Collaborate with research team and mentor junior staff.
Requirements: M.S. Degree in
Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Studies or foreign
equivalent. Three years as a Building Science or Lighting Researcher.
**B.S. Degree in the above and 5 years experience is also acceptable
Special Requirements:

Building Science Analyst
Job Description: HMG is seeking a
mid-level building science analyst to provide expertise to promote energy
efficiency in buildings. This position requires significant interaction with
architects, developers, engineers, and utility program managers.
Responsibilities include building energy performance analyses, technical
evaluation of energy systems, developing field and telephone surveys, and
report writing. In addition, there will be project management and reporting
on project activities and expenditures to clients and HMG principals.
Job Duties:
- Model and analyze energy use in buildings
in compliance with program guidelines or code requirements.
- Evaluate code requirements and propose
interpretations, as applied to energy savings opportunities.
- Perform cost analysis of energy efficiency
measures.
- Document modeling assumptions and results.
- Participate in energy charrettes, propose
energy efficient alternatives to design teams and advise on how to
integrate energy-efficient measures.
- Show initiative in addressing client
concerns and demonstrate a proactive approach in advocating for
energy-efficient design.
- Produce high-quality technical reports
suitable for both technical and lay audiences.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship (preferred) or green card
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in
Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or other building-related
technical field required. For a Bachelor's degree, position requires a
minimum of 3 years experience with building science or research and
analysis.

Research Associate
Job Description: The Research
Associate is an entry-level position. Candidates will work as part of a team
of professional consultants who are working to improve the efficiency of
buildings, multifamily and commercial, in California.
Job Duties:
- Assist with energy efficiency program
marketing/recruitment, including: phone calls to program participants;
- Make presentations at clients' offices,
association meetings and conferences;
- Assist with the overall program marketing
campaign; reporting and tracking progress in databases.
- Provide project design assistance to
customers, including: modeling building performance using industry
approved computer programs, researching energy efficient technologies
and cost/benefit analyses of options, presenting various design
solutions, verifying compliance via plan checks and on-site visits.
- Analyze energy and cost impacts of
potential energy efficiency measures.
- Collect data and write project reports on
efficiency and cost-effectiveness of measures.
- Conduct interviews and/or surveys of
market players, including building owners, developers, architects,
engineers, housing authorities.
