George Turnbull - Senior Buildings Engineer
George Turnbull is a senior
buildings engineer at the Heschong Mahone Group. His main involvement is
with the building science analysis projects and energy code programs
within the practice.
Mr. Turnbull currently
coordinates a major PG&E energy savings program that targets commercial
sector building fleet owners. The program looks to encourage energy
reduction measures by offering a system of customized advice and
associated utility rebates. Mr. Turnbull is also carrying out an
evaluation of the performance of a north-western US regional
retro-commissioning program offered by NEEA. Additionally he has a role
coordinating the production of the explanatory manuals for the 2008
revisions to the California Energy Commission’s building energy
efficiency code sponsored by PG&E. He is also involved in developing
proposals for changes to the 2011 California Energy Commission’s
appliance standards for Sempra.
Before
coming to HMG, Mr. Turnbull was a Faculty member at Northumbria University
in the UK, teaching on the Building Services Engineering programs and
specialized in energy efficiency. Prior to this Mr. Turnbull was an energy
manager for two large organizations and worked in engineering and
architectural practice. He has been a private consultant for the UK's
Building Research Energy Conservation Support Unit and has given advice to
the UK government's auditors on energy and water value-for-money programs.
Mr.
Turnbull has an M.S. in Energy Resources Management from South Bank
University, UK and a B.A. in Architecture from Portsmouth University, UK.
