STAFF PROFILE
Michael Maroney
Engineering Associate

Mr. Maroney is
an Associate Project Manager at the Heschong Mahone Group, Inc. He is
responsible for supporting projects that require engineering analysis in
areas such as domestic hot water, daylighting, and demand response. He
has helped to develop codes and standards for household appliance
efficiency and commercial buildings efficiency.
Title 20 and Title 24
codes and standards research and CASE study work have been key tasks
performed by Mr. Maroney since joining HMG. While working on Title 20
CASE work, Mr. Maroney advocated for more stringent insulation
requirements for commercial ovens. The Title 24 CASE work has involved
lower flow showerheads and requirements for occupancy sensors installed
in hotel/motel hallways, multi-family building corridors and warehouse
space. Mr. Maroney has provided valuable field monitoring, system
analysis and modeling of distributed hot water networks; this effort is
funded by the PIER program in order to provide solid numerical
foundation for future code enhancements. Each project required Mr.
Maroney to employ a variety of the multi-disciplinary skills he
possesses: engineering analysis and modeling, thorough market studies,
and detailed life cycle cost calculations.
Prior to HMG, Mr.
Maroney was a Project Engineer at Risk Management Professionals, Inc.
His role involved coordinating operations at facilities that use highly
hazardous chemicals (classified by California-OSHA Title 8 section
5189). In addition, he has spoken on the topic of handling and storage
of hazardous chemicals at industry conventions.
Mr. Maroney is a member
of: AIChE. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from
the University of California, Santa Barbara and is a licensed Profession
Engineer in California.
