STAFF PROFILE

Josh Rasin
Associate Manager

Mr. Rasin is an Associate Project Manager at the Heschong Mahone Group, Inc., with a background in environmental economics. 

Mr. Rasin currently manages two Title 24 CASE studies for Pacific Gas & Electric Company; Demand Responsive Indoor Lighting Controls, and Demand Responsive Communicating Thermostats. His most recent project with the Demand Response Research Center involved translation of Open Automated Demand Response communication standards to the Utility Message Channel and constructing a display that demonstrates the receptions of real time price signals by devices with radio (UMC) and internet (OpenADR) receivers.

Mr. Rasin has been involved in Title 24 Codes and Standards support and compliance, residential and non-residential energy efficiency program verification, as well as behavioral demand response programs. Mr. Rasin has worked on the Demand Response Thermostat Pilot for SMUD, a Demand Response Potential Study for SDG&E and a Comprehensive Mobile Home Program Verification Audit for SCE. For a PG&E emerging technology program evaluating field trials of advanced skylights, Mr. Rasin was the technical lead on data analysis, in charge of data collection and site visits. Additionally, he spent several months managing the day-to-day operations of the Governor’s Benchmarking initiative under Executive Order S-20-04, which involves coordination between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, all California energy utilities, California commercial real estate representatives, and over 30 State departments. Mr. Rasin provides the following services to HMG projects: program implementation assistance, program analysis, data analysis, and policy research. Specific project duties include performing program marketing outreach, reporting and tracking program progress in databases, and program analysis.

Mr. Rasin holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Environmental Economics, from Binghamton University.
