Sophia Hartkopf - Associate Marketing Manager
Ms.
Hartkopf is an Associate Manager at the Heschong Mahone Group, Inc. with
a strong background in environmental policy, program implementation, and
evaluation. Ms. Hartkopf provides the following services to HMG
projects: program implementation and evaluation, building design
analysis, and policy research. Specific project duties include:
assisting in all aspects of program implementation, including developing
program marketing campaign materials, performing program marketing
outreach, reporting and tracking program progress in databases,
conducting site-specific building design analysis through computer
simulations, and analyzing energy and cost impacts of potential energy
efficiency measures. In addition, Ms. Hartkopf is involved in energy
efficiency research and policy studies, such as completing research and
reporting on construction best design practices.
On behalf of the PG&E, Ms. Hartkopf has
worked extensively on the implementation of HMG’s third-party multifamily
energy efficiency incentive program, titled: California Multifamily New
Homes (CMFNH). She managed many of the marketing and outreach activities
including: coordinating, attending, and presenting at conferences and
other events. Ms. Hartkopf also has experience coordinating with other
groups working on residential programs including the LEED for Homes
program, Build it Green’s GreenPoint Rated, the New Solar Homes
Partnership, and Enterprise Green Communities. Ms. Hartkopf also managed
ENERGY STAR® appliance manufacturer coordination for the program. In
addition to managing outreach activities for the program, Ms. Hartkopf
also conducted a series of ‘High-Performance Multifamily Design’ trainings
for PG&E.
On behalf of the Northwest Energy
Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), Ms. Hartkopf is assisting to conduct a
multi-year evaluation of the Commercial Sector Initiative (CSI) otherwise
known as BetterBricks. In this evaluation, Ms. Hartkopf is reaching out to
prior program participant to determine the penetration of energy
efficiency and green building practices on buildings in the region. In
doing so this evaluation aims to create an energy savings baseline for the
future NEEA commercial programs. To support this project Ms. Hartkopf is
conducting interviews and analysing the commercial tracking database for
completeness and accuracy.
Prior to working with HMG, Ms. Hartkopf
worked with the Green Building Alliance in Pittsburgh PA, a regional green
building non-profit organization that advances economic prosperity by
driving market demand for green buildings and green building products. She
has participated in a number of green building projects and has conducted
research in the fields of urban sprawl, alternative energy sources, and
energy politics.
Ms. Hartkopf received a B.S. in Foreign
Service in the Science, Technology and International Affairs (STIA)
program with a concentration in Environmental and European Studies, from
Georgetown University.
